Justice Minister Dr Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says that India has sought reimbursement from the Sri Lankan government for the assistance it rendered when the New Diamond and X-Press Pearl vessels caught on fire in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
Sri Lanka sought Indian assistance to douse the flames and minimize the environmental impact when two ships caught fire in Sri Lankan waters.
The minister participating in a TV program said that the country has to pay INR 890 million to the Government of India for the support it extended.
