Issues relating to apprehended fishermen should be handled with care says the Indian High Commission.

The issue associated with the arrest of 54 fishermen and five boats from India by the Sri Lankan Navy should be dealt with in a humanitarian manner the Indian High Commission said in a statement.
These fishermen had been apprehended by the Sri Lanka Navy on the night of the 24th of March.
The Indian High Commission and the Sri Lankan government are working together to provide consular access and emergency supplies. The High commission states that there is a bilateral mechanism to comprehensively address all matters related to fisheries.
