A group of 62 Sri Lankan domestic workers who were illegally staying in Kuwait without visas were deported to Sri Lanka under temporary passports prepared by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait.
Out of these, 59 were female domestic workers, and the remaining three were male domestic workers.
This group has arrived at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport from the state of Kuwait on Al Jazeera flight J9555.
They have registered at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait to come to Sri Lanka due to problems such as illnesses, ageing, and other problems that have arisen in their families in Sri Lanka.
The Spokesperson added that more than 2,000 Sri Lankan domestic workers are currently registered at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait to come to Sri Lanka.
