The government had decided not to place the country under lockdown following the detection of the fast-spreading Covid variant in several parts of the country.
Media earlier today speculated that the country may be placed under lockdown after an assessment of the situation, by the Health authorities on Monday. The government after careful consideration of the data available has decided against it. Authorities however assured all necessary measures would be taken to restrict the spread of the new variant of Covid 19.
