The Colombo Chief Magistrate Court today ordered the exhumation of the body of the 16-year-old girl, who died at the house of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, to perform a fresh post mortem examination.

Colombo Additional Magistrate RajindraJayasuriya further ordered the health authorities to appoint a panel of medical experts to perform a fresh post mortem into the death of the girl.

The Additional Magistrate made this order following a request made by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Pieris. The Deputy Solicitor General made submissions to the effect that investigations are underway to ascertain whether the death was a murder or suicide.

Meanwhile, four suspects that include the wife of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, her father and brother, arrested over the death of a 16-year-old domestic aide were today ordered to be remanded till August 9 by the Additional Magistrate. The Additional Magistrate refused to grant bail on the suspects taking into consideration the seriousness of the alleged offence.

Meanwhile, Deputy Solicitor General DileepaPieris told the court that the prosecution is expecting to name MP Rishad Bathiudeen as the fifth suspect.
