The Colombo Chief Magistrate Court has ordered to lift the travel ban imposed against Social media activist and the admin of the ‘#GoHomeGota2022’ Facebook page ThisaraAnurudhdha Bandara.
Police arrested the suspect on April 2 for allegedly attempting to excite feelings of disaffection towards the President and the Government and was later released on bail after being produced before a Magistrate.
On that occasion, the court imposed travel restrictions on the suspect as one of the bail conditions.
When this case came before Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera, defencecounsel sought an order to revoke the travel ban imposed against their client.
The Police arrested the suspect for committing offences under section 120 of the Penal Code.
The Mutuwal Police arrested the suspect for allegedly attempting to excite feelings of disaffection toward the President and the Government of the Republic through a Facebook page named ‘GoHomeGota2022’.
The Magistrate fixed further inquiry for May 31.
