Man arrested for organising “Horn Honking”protest
April 30, 2021

Police arrested a 31year old man for allegedly obstructing Police duties by organizing a “horn honking” protest when the Chinese DefenceMinister was passing through the Borellajunction.
The video where the person concerned organizing the on the spot protest went viral on social media platform inviting people to add their comments.
The suspect from the Battaramulla area has recently arrived in Sri Lanka from Australia after being graduated and was hoping to go back.
The Police on the day concerned closed all the by-roads leading to the Baseline road without prior notice causing anxiety among the motorists who had to spend a longer period on the road.
A similar incident took place some time back, during the “Yahapalanaya” regime too, prompting a response from the then opposition leader who said the displeasure shown by the public against the closure of the road for VIP vehicular movements by increasingly sounding the horns were a reaction to the government policies.
However, at that stage then-President, Sirisena put an end to road closures for VIP traffic movements.
