The Police Legal Division is reportedly studying the legal aspects of singing the national anthem with distortions. This was following the receipt of a number of complaints to the police in this regard after the inaugarationof the Lanka Premier League.
Sources said that the police will also seek advice from the Attorney General in this regard.
An investigation is to be initiated regarding singing the national anthem in a distorted manner at the inauguration of the Lanka Premier League tournament on Sunday based on the AG’s advice, Police sources said.
The Popular female singer was mispronouncing key lyrics while reciting the National Anthem at the 2023 LPL opening ceremony.
