Moragalle Tourist Police today arrested a suspect who was in hiding after an alleged assault on a Saudi Arabian couple at a hotel in Aluthgama.
Police said that two other people were involved in the attack and are currently absconding. A Police team has been deployed to arrest these suspects.
This Arabian couple had arrived at a tourist hotel in Aluthgama on July 15. When the couple went to the coffee shop of the hotel yesterday, two drunkards disturbed the tourists by shouting loudly.
When the couple could not bear their noise, the Arab couple told them in English not to speak loudly. They told them that their behaviour disturbed them. The drunkards subsequently abused the couple and assaulted the husband. They have slapped the wife in the face.
However, these two men have been removed from the area following the incident. The Arabian couple has lodged a complaint regarding the assault on them with the Tourist police.
