The CID has taken over the investigations into the incident where a Parliamentarian’s vehicle was shot at in Anuradhapura.
The Anuradhapura Headquarters Police said that unidentified men in a van opened fire at the vehicle in which Anuradhapura District Member of Parliament and popular actor Uddika Premaratne was travelling.
The incident took place near his father’s house on Anuradhapura Airport Road.
However, a police officer said that neither the MP nor anyone else was injured by the shooting.
He is a member of the National Freedom Front, led by Wimal Weerawansa, but recently announced that he would sit as an independent member of Parliament.
