Namal says his brother's satellite was a private-sector project, and no public funds were used

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa says his younger brother Rohitha Rajapaksa was involved in the launch of a satellite, which is completely a private sector project. He said that this issue can be taken up before the COPE if public funds are spent on the project. Speaking at a SLPP meeting in Bandaragama, Rajapaks said the COPE can initiate an investigation if state funds have been used for the project. Rajapaksa further said those who are levelling baseless allegations against them want to take political mileage by defaming his family.
