Paralympics Gold Medalist Dinesh Priyantha promoted Warrant Officer1 of the Army.

Sergeant Dinesh Priyantha who won the first Gold medal for Sri Lanka at the Tokyo Paralympic Games promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer I by the Commander of the Army.
Priyantha won the Gold Medal for Javelin throw setting a new world record under the F 46 category. Priyantha has cleared a distance of 67.79 meters and became the first-ever athlete to win a Gold Medal for Sri Lanka at the Paralympics.
Born on the 15th of July 1986, HerathMudiyasalage Dinesh Priyantha was wounded after being shot in the left arm during the last stages of the separatist war.
