The parliamentary elections, the first major election held during the pandemic in South Asia, concluded with an average of 70 per cent voter turnout.
“It is a very successful election and a good turnout,” an Election Commission official told to the Counter Point.
According to the official the cost for the election could reach up to Rs. 10 billion.
Most of the cost was to adopt health measures to tackle the possible threat of the spread of Covid-19.
People were told to wear masks, social distance and also bring their own pens to the polling booths.
In addition, the Election Commission took steps to make available hand sanitizer and, soap and water for voters before entering the polling booths.
According to PAFFREL there was a total of 147 violation of election laws within the day. This included 46 unconfirmed cases.
