The Parliamentary Select Committee which was appointed to look into and identify the mechanisms to be implemented in order to immediately control and eradicate the rapidly

spreading drug menace decided yesterday, to summon all the institutions responsible for controlling and eradicating the drug menace before the Select Committee on August 10.

The Select Committee has arrived at this decision at its first meeting held under the patronage of Public Security Minister Tiran Alles, as it is important to properly understand the current situation in the country with regard to drug trafficking.Minister Alles said that the Sri Lanka Police, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, and the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol would be summoned before the committee to hold a wider discussion in this regard and identify the current situation.
