Secretary to the President, Dr. P. B. Jayasundara has tendered his resignation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Today.
His resignation came in the wake of objections raised by the cabinet of ministers who have urged him to step down, but the resignation is yet to be accepted by the President, the Daily Mirror learns.
Jayasundara submitted a detailed resignation letter giving details for the decision and the obstacles he faced during his tenure as the Secretary to the President. Having stated the reasons, Mr Jayasundara had asked for President’s permission to resign from office.
Gamini Senarath, Secretary to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, would likely take over after several others had declined.
