Personal Data Protection Bill passed with amendments
March 09, 2022

The government today passed the personal data protection bill in Parliament with amendments.
At the outset of today's proceedings, the Chief opposition Whip requested the Speaker to note down the objections raised by the opposition against the passage of the bill.
Opposition benches noted that all media organisations are against the bill and expressed their vehement opposition.
The opposition pointed out that the bill has not gone through the oversight committees of Parliament.
Such committees are yet to be appointed. "It is a wrong procedure to present this bill without going through proper channels", the Chief opposition whip pointed out.
