Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister G.L Peiris will visit Italy to attend a conference at the University of Bologna.

The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister will also visit the Vatican City to brief the Vatican authorities on the progress they have made so far concerning the Easter Sunday attack.

This move may have triggered after Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith took steps to brief the Vatican about the alleged snail pace progress into the Easter Sunday attack by the government, sources said.

The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister will also visit the Vatican City for an audience with the Vatican authorities.

The Prime Minister will brief the Vatican authorities on the progress they have made so far concerning the Easter Sunday incidents.

Earlier, Minister Peiris requested the Archbishop for an audience to explain the government’s position concerning the attack that occurred in 2019. However, the Archbishop declined to say that the government needs to fulfil certain conditions before the meeting.
