A police sergeant attached to the Rambukkana Police who had allegedly entered a house in Ihalagama and sexually attacked a 60-year-old woman while on night mobile patrol duty was apprehended by the householders yesterday (25).
The householders and the residents in the area have tied him to a tree and handed him over to the police.
Two police constables have been deployed on mobile patrol duty in a police cab under the leadership of this sergeant, from 6 p.m. on July 24 to 6 a.m. on July 25.
The sergeant, while on duty, told the other officers that he had to go to the police station, got out of the cab, and left.
