The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today informed Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that they are yet to receive advice from Attorney General regarding the future legal action to be taken against former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara in connection with their criminal negligence and failure to prevent Easter Sunday Terrorist attacks.
The CID submitted to Court that they have concluded preliminary investigations against the two suspects pertaining to the Easter Sunday attacks. The CID further informed that the abstracts of the investigations have been forwarded to the Attorney General for his advice.
The two suspects are currently out on bail.
Further magisterial inquiry fixed for October 27.
The two former top officials have been accused of failing to take measures to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks despite having prior knowledge of the attack.
