President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has convened a meeting of the members of the government group for this evening. The meeting was to start at 4, 30 pm at the Temple Trees.
The SLFP led by former President Maithripala Sirisena has, in the meantime, decided not to participate in the meeting.
Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa has summoned yet another meeting only for the members of the SLPP.
The Finance Minister was planning to discuss the current situation of the country with the SLPP Parliamentarians against the backdrop of IMF findings that the debt portfolio of the country was not sustainable and hence immediate measures should be taken to correct the position.
