President to introduce a new constitution and electoral system

Speaking to the armed forces personnel President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today gave an undertaking that he intends to introduce a new constitution and a new electoral system, as promised.
The President gave this undertaking at the Gajaba Regiment Headquarters at SaliyapuraAnuradhapura to mark the 72 nd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
The President called for the unstinted cooperation of everybody to take the country forward under the concept of one country and one law without corruption.
The economy had to undergo tremendous difficulties due to the effects Covid 19 pandemic nevertheless, the government had accomplished a great deal of work for the benefit of the people. He said.

Our Tri-forces extended their support to the health sector in carrying out the vaccination and quarantine processes to control the spread of COVID-19.
President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to everyone for their commitment in this regard.
The President later paid his tribute to the statue of late Major-General Wijaya Wimalaratne for the service he rendered to the country as a gallant soldier.
