Price increase: a misconception-Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance today clarified that the gazette notification issued on commodity levies was to update the existing taxes under the act. The Ministry said in a statement that those taxes were in force from 2020 and the new gazette has been issued to extend the period of the taxes by another year. The propaganda that the prices of several commodities had been increased is a misconception the statement said.
