Production of salt continues unhindered

The Government today said that salt production in the country has not been affected. Hence there is no shortage, a co-spokesman for the Cabinet said. He refuted claims that salt production is hit, as a result of the burning ship debris, spreading to the areas where the salterns are. The fire on the ship MV X-Press Pearl has had a substantial environmental impact on the coastline from Negombo to Moratuwa.
