A protest was held in Nedunkerni town yesterday, demanding the government properly allocate the land area belonging to the Lingeshwara Kovil in Vedulkunari by placing boundary stones.

The residents, while hailing the President’s decision for the demarcation of boundaries for the Kurundumale Buddhist temple in Mulliaitivu, said that the placing of Buddhist statues in the vicinity of Kovils in the Northern Province and the building of Pagodas will deprive the Hindus of their right to practise their religion.

They said a large extent of lands in the North that belong to the people have been forcibly taken over by the Archaeological Department.
