Taking into account the rapid spread of Covid-19 in Gampaha town, the Gampaha Lawyers’ Association has taken a unanimous decision not to attend court proceedings until August 23.

In a letter to Gampaha District Judge, the President of Gampaha Lawyers’ Association Attorney-at-Law Lasantha Hewamanne informed that they reached this decision after considering the safety of government officials and the general public attending courts. The Lawyers’ Association said there are no adequate infrastructural facilities in the court complex to adhere with health guidelines issued by thehealth authorities.

Gampaha Lawyers’ Association had convened an Emergency General Meeting on Monday (16) to discuss the prevailing situation in the country and the Gampaha town following the reports of the rapid spread of Covid-19.
