An ordinary villager from gem rich Kahawattain Ratnapura has found the world’s largest Star sapphire cluster weighing 510 Kg from his back Yard.
The gem found a few months ago is worth over 100 million US dollars.
Up to date, there are about fifty international buyers who have expressed their willingness to purchase the same.
The pale blue colour stone is over 2.5 million carrots, and the Gem and Jewelry Authority will help the owner to find a genuine international buyer, sources said.
The Chairman of the Gem and Jewelry Authority has reportedly said that the gem is a very rare stone that can fetch a very large sum of money.
