The Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism has written to the Director-General of Health Services to exempt flight crews from wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) who are fully vaccinated.
The Chairperson further states these requirements are necessary to promote tourism.
She states that during a meeting with the President, the following recommendations were discussed to encourage tourists to visit Sri Lanka and obtain desired results.
1, Remove wearing of PPE requirement for flight crew who are fully vaccinated.
2, Remove the requirement of PCR 72 hours before boarding for fully vaccinated.
3, Remove PCR for children 12 years and below in line with EU regulation.
4, Allow on arrival rapid tests for fully vaccinated passengers on the tourist route and to be conducted at the airport.
The Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism further states that the Minister, State Minister and she were in Russia to promote tourism in Sri Lanka.
She states that the Sri Lankan delegation met with the Media, Key influencers in Russia, several tour operators, and travel agents attending the tourism trade fair in Moscow.
Russia has over a 144million population and a key source market for Sri Lanka with vaccination at about 25% of the entire population, the Chairperson told the Director-General of Health Services in her letter.
She also mentions that these requirements came up for discussion at a meeting with the President.
