SC gives nod to Sri Lanka Land development Corporation (Amendment ) Biil

The Supreme Court has determined that the provisions of the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill are consistent with the constitution, the Speaker announced today.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that the bill can be passed by simple a majority in Parliament in line with the Supreme Court determination.
The Supreme Court has made this determination pursuant to several Special Determination petitions filed challenging the constitutionality of the proposed bill in terms of the Article 121(1) of the constitution.
The bill titled “Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (Amendment)" was published in the gazette on February 10, 2021 and had been placed on Order Paper of the Parliament on April 8, 2021.
