Popular Sri Lankan YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe was today ordered to be remanded until February 21 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis.
Popular Sri Lankan YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe, who is in remand custody for allegedly making disrespectful remarks about the Temple of the Tooth Relic, announced through his lawyer, Darshana Kuruppu, that he is ready to deliver a public apology to the Buddhist community living all over the world.
In a letter addressed to the Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter, the most venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera, defence counsel said his client is ready for a public apology if his remarks hurt the sentiments of Buddhist monks and the Buddhist community living all over the world.
The prosecution alleged that the suspect had committed punishable offences under the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act, the Antiquity Ordinance, and the Penal Code.
