Silent protest near CID office against the harassment meted out to Rev Fr. Cyril Gamini.

Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini, who appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for the third day, left the CID after giving a five-hour-long statement.
The Rev, Father Was summoned following a complaint made by the Director of the State Intelligence Service to the CID that Fr. Cyril Gamini had made several defamatory remarks of him in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attack.
Subsequently, Fr. Cyril Gamini filed an FR petition before the Supreme Court on the presumption that a plan was underway to arrest him after questioning by the CID.
When the matter came up before the Supreme Court, the Attorney General said that the CID had written to the AG indicating that they would not arrest Fr Cyril Gamini on the strength of a complaint made by the Director State Intelligence Service.
When Fr. Cyril Gamini appeared before the CID today, there was a silent demonstration by the Catholic priest near the CID office in the Fort against the harassment meted out to the priest concerned.
In Parliament also several opposition Parliamentarians voice their opposition against the harassment caused to Rev.Fr. Cyril Gamini by the CID.
