Little girl who was seriously injured in a shooting incident dies following admission to hospital

A six-year girl was admitted to the National Hospital following a shooting incident near the Maligakanda magistrate court died subsequently.

According to Maradana Police, the incident took place while the little girl was travelling in a trishaw with her parents. They were residents of Wasala Road, Kotahena.

Police said that the child’s father is a suspect in a case where a person was killed in Kotahena with sharp weapons last November.

The three were returning home after a court case when the shooting took place.
