The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) staged a protest against the fuel price hike and several other issues.

The protest march started from the SJB Headquarters at Pitakotte ahead of today’s Parliamentary sessions.

SJB Leader and Opposition Leader SajithPremadasa called on the government to immediately restore the status quo by reducing oil prices.

Premadasa speaking to the press, said the farmers, fisherfolk and everybody else is facing severe difficulties, owing to the fuel price hike and the callous disregard of the government towards the burning issues of the people.

The SJB also submitted a No-confidence motion against Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila to the Speaker.

The party said a vote against the no-confidence motion is a vote supportive of the fuel price hike. The no-confidence motion against Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila submitted with 43 SJB members signing for it.
