The Criminal Investigation Department arrested the former Senior Superintendent of Police, Kegalle K.B Keerthiratne, over the shooting incident in Rambukkana a week ago. Police sources said Senior Superintendent of Police Keerthiratne was admitted to the Narahenpita Police Hospital after the Kegalle magistrate ordered the arrest of Police officers involved in the incident yesterday.
Three other policemen allegedly involved in the incident were also arrested in Kundasale.
Police opened fire at a group of protestors approximately a week ago in Rambukkana to disperse a protesting crowd killing one person. They were demanding reasonable distribution of fuel received at the Rambukkana Petrol shed. Informed sources said a politician from the area owns the Rambukkana petrol station
