A Major General attached to the Anuradhapura Army, embroiled in an altercation with a team of Wildlife Department officials, arrested after he surrendered to the Habarana Police Station.
Accordingly, the Police will make arrangements to produce him before the Kekirawa Magistrate’s court.
The Kekirawa Magistrate Saman Weraniyagoda yesterday directed the Habarana OIC to arrest and produce in court the Army officer and other members of the Army, who allegedly assaulted a wildlife officer on duty at the Minneriya National Park.
Meanwhile, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva also
appointed a Board, headed by two Senior Majors General to inquire into the matter.
