Teachers who are presently in the process of evaluating Ordinary Level answer papers today staged a protest opposite the schools where they are marking answer scripts, demanding the government increase their allowance to Rs 2000.
They said that an allowance of Rs. 2000 is presently given to the teachers who are evaluating the GCE Advanced Level answer papers. These teachers say they deserve the same allowance.
Ceylon Teachers’ Union Secretary Priyantha Fernando said that unless the same amount is paid, the teachers will boycott the evaluation of ECE Ordinary Level answer papers from tomorrow.
