Ten political parties urge the government to lockdown the country

Ten political parties affiliated with the ruling coalition have appealed to the President to place the country under a three-week lockdown to avert a major health crisis, owing to the unabated Covid pandemic in the country. A three–week lockdown may bring relief to the country and the health sector with a manageable number of patients reported, they have pointed out. They have pointed out that such a decision would help the people to regain their confidence and join in salvaging the country’s economy. The political parties include Ape Jana Bala Party, Democratic Left Front, Lanka Sama Samaja Party, National Freedom Front, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, National Congress, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, Sri Lanka Communist Party, Sri Lanka Mahajana Party, Yuthukama National Organization.
