Two people were killed in separate shooting incidents that took place in Homagama and Kottawa yesterday night and this morning.

The person who died in the Homagama shooting had been engaged in a phone call when he was shot at by unidentified gunmen who came in a car on Tuesday night. Preliminary investigations have revealed that a T56 firearm was used for the shooting. Police sources said that the murder was the result of a feud between two parties.

The person who died in the Kottawa shooting was employed at a sample collection centre for Lanka Hospitals in Colombo, and the shooting had taken place when he had come to the place to collect samples.

According to the police, the people who carried out the shooting had parked their motorcycle. close by, walked up to the victim, and fired nine shots at the head and chest area. Police believe that he had been involved in drug peddling.
