Vehicle imports are to be allowed for general purposes

The existing restrictions on vehicle imports will be lifted by the end of this year, Finance Ministry officials informed the Public Finance Committee (COPF) yesterday (Sept. 5). Accordingly, the existing import restrictions will be lifted by the end of this year, they stated. However, the officials said that the restrictions would not be lifted for the import of vehicles brought down for personal use. Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva chaired the committee.
