Voice Data Recorder (VDR) of the ill-fated vessel Mv X-press Pearl has been recovered by the Navy and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
It will help the CID to launch a comprehensive probe since the VDR has on record all the conversations that took place when the vessel was on the voyage and stationary. Police said.
Police earlier grilled the Captain, Chief Engineer and the Deputy Chief Engineer of the vessel as part of a probe to explore the events before the ship caught fire off the Colombo Port.
