A woman involved in sharing her nude videos online was remanded

A woman has been ordered to be remanded until September 27 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court after she was accused of sharing her nude videos online to make money.

The CID's Computer Crimes Division had arrested the woman, a mother of one child, and produced her before the court for allegedly committing offences under Section 2 of the Obscene Publication Ordinance and Section 286 of the Penal Code.

The CID alleged that the suspect had shared her nude videos online with individuals who deposited money into her bank account. The woman has offered her service for Rs. 1,000 per minute. The CID further alleged that the husband of the suspect had acted in a way that encouraged or assisted the commission of the offence.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis has ordered the CID to file a charge sheet against the suspect on the next hearing date.

The suspect woman was not represented by a lawyer.
