A woman suffers a permanent amputation after her husband, a drug addict, severed her leg.

A husband who is addicted to methamphetamine (ICE) cut his wife’s leg off with a sword last Monday night after an argument. The police said that the husband does not have a permanent source of income.
The wife is about 42 years old, and the husband is about 45 years old and resides in Kirindiwela.
Neighbours have taken her to Watupitivala Hospital with her leg, which was cut and separated by her husband. She was then transferred to Gampaha Hospital for re-implantation of the leg. However, Gampaha Hospital sources said that due to the delay in bringing the leg and the fact that the leg was not brought on ice, it was not possible to transplant the leg due to nerve failure.
