At least six people have died, three others have been injured and one person remains missing as adverse weather affects several parts of Sri Lanka, the Disaster Management Center said on Tuesday.
Heavy rains, floods and landslides reported since Monday have affected 4,088 people from 1,045 families across six districts, according to the center’s latest situation report.
Authorities have evacuated nearly 500 families to 11 safe centers while relief and response operations continue.
The central Nuwara Eliya District was the worst affected, recording all five deaths and more than 500 affected families, the center said.
District authorities and relevant agencies are providing assistance to affected communities and closely monitoring weather conditions.
