AG to indict Hijaz before Puttlam High Court

The Attorney General has filed indictments in Puttlam High Court against lawyer Hijaz Hisbullah and Principle of Al Suhariya Madrasa School Salim Hkan Mohomed in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks. The indictments have been filed under the Section 2 (1) (h) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the Section 3 (1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Attorney-at-Law Hizbullah was detained by the CID for about 10 months under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. Subsequently, he was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court and further remanded till March 18. Meanwhile several European ambassadors have expressed their concern over Hisbullah who is a well-known Human Rights Activist and Constitutional lawyer
