Justice Minister Vijayadasa Rajapaksshe has reportedly said that the new Anti-Terrorism Bill is likely to be delayed based on the demand for a wider discussion and the opposition by Parliamentarians.
The BASL issued a statement that the government should not enact any legislation that harms the people at large.
The BASL is of the view that no legislation should be introduced to curtail and suppress, directly or indirectly, the fundamental rights of citizens enshrined in the Constitution and that this bill if passed into law, will have far-reaching consequences
