Sri Lanka stocks fell by 6.5 per cent to a new low on Tuesday wiping out at least 245 billion rupees from stock values.
This is consequent to making sharp gains over several weeks owing to low interest rates by Banks and strong earnings in some firms, according to sources.
Following this the Colombo stock market suspended its operations for some time.
According to reports the All Share Price Index dropped by 561.75 points to close at 8,005.32 points.
