Lakshman Kadirgamar remembered on 21st death anniversary

The 21st commemoration of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar was held on Wenesday (12) with a religious almsgiving ceremony organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism and the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS).
The ceremony was held under the patronage of seven members of the Maha Sangha, including Royal Pandit Ven. Kandy Amitha Gaveshi Thera of the Colombo Sri Sambodhi Viharaya.
Delivering the sermon, Ven. Amitha Gaveshi Thera recalled Kadirgamar’s distinguished contribution to Sri Lankan diplomacy, his commitment to national unity and his service to the country.
Pirith chanting was also held, with blessings invoked for the future activities of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute.
Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, Kadirgamar’s wife and lifetime member of the LKIIRSS Board of Governors Sugandhi Kadirgamar, and Acting Executive Director of the Institute Tushara Rodrigo were among those present.
Members of the LKIIRSS Board of Governors, senior officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and staff of the Institute also attended the commemoration.
