Catholic Church holds black flag protest
August 22, 2021

The Catholic Church, led by Colombo Arch Bishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, held a black flag protest day throughout the diocese and elsewhere, seeking justice for the people who fell victim to the lethal bombs.
Nearly 280 people died in a series of bomb attacks carried out in churches in Colombo, Katuwapitiya and Batticaloa and several hotels in Colombo.
Catholic churches bedecked with black flags held memorial services for the souls of the departed while, in several areas, black flags hoisted as a mark of silent protest and supporting Archbishops call for justice.
