CID, TID get new Directors

SSP Roshan Amarasinghe has been appointed Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Police Media Division said.

The appointment was made on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in view of service requirements, police said.

Amarasinghe assumed the post following the promotion of former CID Director Shani Abeysekara to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).

Police said Abeysekara will continue to oversee the CID as the DIG in charge of the department, while Amarasinghe will assume responsibility as its Director.

SSP Amarasinghe previously served as Director of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).

The vacancy created in the TID following Amarasinghe’s transfer is expected to be filled by SP A.S.K. Bandara of the CID, Police Headquarters sources said.
