CJ nominates Trial –at-Bar to hear the case against Hemasiri &Pujith.

Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya has nominated a Trial-at-Bar bench comprising three judges to hear the case against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former IGP Pujith Jayasundara in connection with criminal negligence and failure to prevent Easter Sunday Terrorist attacks. The Attorney General has indicted them on 864 counts. The Trial-at-Bar bench will comprise High Court Judges Namal Balalle, Adithya Patabendi and Mohomed Irshadeen. The case will proceed without a jury. The two former top officials indicted for failing to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks despite having prior knowledge of the attack.
