The Committee on Public Finance approves the resolution on domestic debt optimisation by a majority

The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) today approved the Resolution on Domestic Debt Optimisation by a Majority.
Extensive Domestic Debt optimisation discussions were held for the second consecutive day today at the Committee on Public Finance, Chaired by a parliamentarian. (Dr.) Harsha de Silva Discussions were held separately yesterday with Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), K. M. Mahinda Siriwardana, Secretary to the Treasury, and high officials representing the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies during the first half of the meeting. Discussions were held with creditors, including banks, superannuation funds, and insurance funds, to obtain perspectives during the second half of the meeting.
After the extensive discussions held, the Committee approved the Resolution by a majority, subject to certain amendments made at the Committee meeting.
Only five members voted against the resolution: M.A. Sumanthiran, Nalaka Godaheva, Harshana Rajakaruna, Chandima Weerakkody, and Vijitha Herath. Rauf Hakeem abstained; Kavinda Jayawardena was absent today; and Mayantha Dissanayake was absent on both days. Champika Ranawaka was not in the committee room at the time of voting.
